Notable Mayo Alumni
October 27, 2016
Fifty years have passed since Mayo High School first came to be. Within those fifty years, thousands of young men and women have graduated and gone on to do great things in life. From sports to academia, Mayo alumni have done it all. Here are several notable alumni who have accomplished great things throughout their time at Mayo and beyond.
Michael Restovich
Graduated: 1997
Accomplishments: Restovich played for several major league and AAA baseball clubs, including the Twins, Rockies, Pirates, Cubs, Nationals, White Sox, Dodgers, Diamondbacks, and a 48 game stretch when he played in Japan.
Honourable Judge Kevin Lund

Madeline Van Ert

Her community involvement and charm led her to be a representative for Minnesota in the Miss America pageant, where she received the Miss Congeniality award. This award is voted on by the other contestants and was given to Madeline for her friendliness along with her stellar personality.
Kelly and Coco Miller

They played in the Nike National All-Star game, were first team all-state members, and were declared Miss Basketball as a pair in 1997. Both of these individuals were different in many ways, but the aspect of their high school career that makes them remembered is very similar.

Since Mayo High School was named after the brothers William James Mayo and Charles Horace Mayo, physicians and founders of the Mayo Clinic, I find it only fitting that The Advocate recognize graduates that have gone on to pursue careers as physicians. It would certainly appear the least we could do since we used the last name of such famous doctors to name our high school.
