Humans of Mayo: Mayo Stage Door Edition

As they prepare for their upcoming performance of “You Can’t Take it With You,” participants in Mayo Stage Door are working tirelessly. Between cast and crew, everyone has something to add to this interesting and exciting show.

Junior Maya Alfred plays Rheba

Q: What’s your favorite thing about being apart of Mayo Stage Door?

A: ” Having the opportunity to meet new people, and growing as an individual,”

Q: What’s the biggest challenge you face as an actor?

A: “Understanding my character within the historical context of the play,”

Q: If you could pick a dessert to describe you, what would it be?

A: “A chocolate covered strawberry. There’s a lot of layers to it, it’s fancy and classy, but also a fun party food,”

Q: What does it feel like to wear a bald cap?

A: “I’m not quite sure. The latex is cold. It kind of feels like I’m wearing a beanie,”

Q: What’s your favorite part about being in Mayo Stage Door?

A: “It’s just one big family,”

Q: What’s the biggest challenge you face in acting?

A: “I tend to speak too fast. When we sold out two shows for “Chicago”, I was really nervous, but excited at the same time,”

Q: What made you want to join Stage Door?

A: “My grandpa used to do a lot of acting, so growing up he was my role model. I wanted to be just like him, and do the things he did,”

Q: If you could have a reality TV show, would you?

A: “I don’t think I would want one. I don’t like reality shows that much. They’re too staged and they try to pretend to be things they are, but they aren’t,”

Q: What is your favorite thing about being a part of Mayo Stage Door?

A: “Building the set. You get to use math skills for the first time in an actual setting. Also the people are fun,”

Q: What’s your favorite snack to have before practice?

A: “Pretzels, however, they leave my mouth dry,”

Q: What made you want to join Mayo Stage Door?

A:  “Ms. Welsh encouraged us to join because there was a shortage of people to work on set. I also fell into peer pressure, but it’s turned out alright,”

Q: How would you like to be remembered?

A: “As a good person. Hopefully,”

Q: What punctuation mark best describes your personality? Why?

A: “A comma. It’s a pause, but there’s always something coming,”

Q: If you were to be on a reality TV show which one would you be on and why?

A: “I would create my own, called “My Life”. It would just be my life, but more reality than any reality show now,”

Q: If you could be invisible for a day.. What would you do?

A: “I would haunt my friends. Say things no one else should know. Something unsettling,”

Q: What’s your favorite part about being in Mayo Stage Door?

A: “All the people, and being a part of something,”

 

Q: What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced so far?

A: “Finding a spot where I can be. There are so many places where I can help out,”

Q: What’s your favorite TV show?

A: “Family Feud. One of my dreams is to be on the show,”

Q: What made you want to join Stage Door?

A: “I wanted to join an after school program and I knew several people who were a part of Stage Door, so I decided to join as well,”

Q: What’s your favorite part about being in Mayo Stage Door?

A: “The community is very including, and I really like the people,”

Q: What’s the biggest challenge in acting?

A: “Being able to convey emotion without being a main character. It’s hard to do so when you’re standing in the back,”

Q: What made you want to join Mayo Stage Door?

A: ” I did a lot of the plays in middle school, also my older was in the musicals here at Mayo, and so he encouraged me to join,”

Q: If you could be invisible for one day, what would you do?

A: “I would probably go to GameStop and get a PlayStation four and any games I wanted to go with it. I want a PS4 but I don’t really want to pay for it,”

Q: Since you’re a senior, what will be something you’ll miss from Stage Door?

A: “The fun I’ve had, the plays we’ve done, and Jacob Dyck’s singing,”
