As we reach the final stretch of this year at Mayo High School, students and staff are getting ready for the Chromebook and charger returns. The Spartan community is working together to make sure every device is returned or safely kept for the summer.
Seniors are supposed to turn in their Chromebook and charger on Wednesday, May 27th, their last day. Returning school tech is one of the final responsibilities for the graduates before officially finishing their high school career. Staff members are reminding seniors to double check that they have both their Chromebook and charger, and to return them together.
For everyone who isn’t a senior, the date to turn in Chromebooks and chargers is June 3rd; however, underclassmen will have permission to keep their Chromebooks and chargers over the summer. Teachers have also been reminding all students to be taking proper care of their devices during the break, so they stay in great condition for the following year.

If a student either breaks or loses their Chromebook or charger, they should let someone in the attendance office or an administrator know as soon as possible. Depending on the situation and how the item was damaged, a student could possibly get a written warning or even a suspension from school technology, on top of having to pay for the expensive repairs or replacement.
Mrs. Novey in the attendance office has been reminding students all year that if they have lost their charger or claim that they “never had one,” they will have to pay for the missing charger when they finally turn their items in. She recommends that students should purchase a charger from Amazon for under $10. Just follow this link.
Mr. Bacon emphasized the importance of taking care of school issued tech. He brought up the fact that students who do break something must remember that it can be very expensive to repair or replace school property. Remember, “if you break it, you buy it,” Mr. Bacon said.
The whole Chromebook program has definitely helped students stay more organized throughout the years by making the learning more accessible and easier both inside and outside of the classroom. By taking care of and being responsible for the Chromebooks, each student helps save the school’s resources and makes it easier for the future students to continue learning the same way.
As another great year comes to an end, we have to make sure everything is set and good for next year’s students by being as respectful and responsible as we can with the school’s property.
Anyone needing to turn in their Chromebook & Chromebook charger must bring those things to the attendance office. Remember, June 3rd is the last day to do this for underclassmen.
