Mayo High School students will get the chance to show off their Clash Royale skills this December in a new 128-player tournament that mixes friendly competition with a meaningful cause. For a $10 entry fee, players not only secure their spot in the bracket but also get a hot dog, chips, and a drink.
The event will take place over three Wednesdays after school, beginning on December 10th and continuing for the next two weeks. All matches will be Mega Draft, which is a Clash Royale mode where both players take turns drafting cards from the same shared pool, building their decks on the spot. Each choice affects what the other player can pick, so strategy begins before the match even starts.
Prizes help raise the stakes. Participants will be battling their way through the bracket for gift cards as well as a grand prize worth more than $300 in cash. But the tournament isn’t only about winning. After all the prizes are handed out, every remaining dollar from the buy-ins will be donated to charity. It’s a simple way to take something people enjoy, gaming, and turn it into something that helps others.
The tournament is open to anyone who wants to play, no experience required. Students can sign up by finding Ian Li in the halls or by stopping into Mr. Johnson’s room (2-124).
With its mix of fun, prizes, and purpose, this Clash Royale tournament is shaping up to be one of the standout events of the season.
