Mayo High School students will have the chance to compete, connect, and contribute to a meaningful cause at this year’s GOFA Ping-Pong Tournament, scheduled for Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at 5 p.m. in the cafeteria.
Open to all students, the tournament aims to bring energy and enthusiasm to the early days of GOFA. With a $10 registration fee, participants can enjoy a fun competition while directly supporting the fundraising goals of the school. Payments can be made in cash to Maria Heilman or Torrey Tung-Mabry, or through Venmo to @tej_bhagra.
Event organizers Tej Bhagra, Maria Heilman, Torrey Tung-Mabry, and Nathan Dozois have been working to encourage students to sign up and help build momentum for the month ahead. They hope the tournament will draw a large crowd of players and spectators alike. Being operated in a casual, low-stress manner, Bhagra explained how the tournament is organized: “We will have one main draw and follow that out. Anyone who loses and wants to play [again], we will just match [them] up.”
The overall winner of the tournament earns bragging rights as the best ping pong player in the school, as well as a $25 Kwik Trip gift card!
“The Ping-Pong Tournament is a great way to get involved with GOFA right from the start,” Heilman said. “It’s fun; it’s competitive, and it helps support a cause that makes a real impact in our community.”
Students wishing to participate are encouraged to register early. For additional questions, Tej Bhagra can be contacted at 507-721-9241.
