Tanveer’s Table: Prime Rib
January 15, 2016
If you are tired of the same Christmas turkey and want something more decadent for this holiday season, try out this recipe!
5 pound Rib Roast
1/2 cup softened butter
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon italian seasoning
1 teaspoon grated horseradish
1 garlic bulb
1 tablespoon flour
2 cups stock
- Preheat oven to 500 degrees Fahrenheit
- Mix pepper, horseradish, and italian seasoning into softened butter
- Paste seasoned butter around rib roast
- Season the rib roast heavily with sea salt, so that a crust forms
- Crush the bulb of garlic and put into baking dish
- Place the beef over the garlic cloves and into the oven
- Bake at 500 degrees for 25 minutes
- Decrease the oven to 200 degrees and bake for 2 – 3 hours
- Remove and roast and strain fat left in roasting dish
- Leave about a tablespoon of fat in roasting dish
- Put roasting dish on medium heat and add flour
- Cook down flour and add chicken stock
- Simmer for desired consistency*
*I prefer the gravy to be a thinner consistency because it pairs with the Prime Rib better
