Another December has decided to roll around. You know what that means? The GOFA season is back in session and with that comes a multitude of activities that students at Mayo can participate in! Some of these activities include Paranoia, Bingo, Dress Up Days, and Penny Wars.
All of those activities are what you can expect during GOFA, but were focusing more on one in particular; Blind Date with a Book.
Blind Date with a Book is where you receive a book that is mysteriously wrapped in wrapping paper and given to you. That’s where the whole “Blind Date” part of the activity comes in. You don’t know what’s under the wrapping paper until you open it.
So who’s hosting Blind Date with a Book?— glad you asked! Mrs. Giesen along with 3 students of the Honors Society Reagan Cunningham, Shadad Abdulla, and Mahek Joshi are the ones who are holding this activity.
Where does Blind Date with a Book take place?— Blind Date with a Book is taking place in the library close to the sign in desk. You’ll see a booth set up where you can go and participate.
When does Blind Date with a Book take place?— The date is still yet to be exact but either the week of December 9th or the last week of GOFA starting the week of December 16th. Blind Date with a Book has been a recurring activity during GOFA that has gone through renovations; formally known as “Buck-a-Book.”
Why is Blind Date with a Book even a thing?— To put it simply, it’s to have that surge of adrenaline when ripping that wrapping paper off, not knowing what’s under it. It’s like opening a gift on Christmas Day. Blind Date with a Book also gives out to the community through these books.
How do I — stop right there. No, there is no need for any sign ups, tickets, entries, or any of that. You simply go up to the booth and receive your gift and open it completely free.
Blind Date with a Book is a great way to participate in GOFA without requiring to spend any money (which you should reconsider).
So what do you say? Come on down and get yourself a Blind Date with a Book!
