The girls basketball team had an unforgettable season this year, showing determination, resilience, and a strong bond that carried them through to the section finals game. One of the standout achievements was winning the conference title for the third year in a row, a major accomplishment and a testament to the team’s consistency and hard work. They played with heart every game and never backed down from the opposing team.

Senior captain Addison Hill said “The section finals game was definitely the most memorable.” Despite losing by one the energy and the pressure was made for one of the most intense games of the season.
With every good season there are ups and downs. A key turning point came after a tough loss to Lakeville North. After the negative performance, the team “practiced and worked a lot harder. We started to take everything more seriously,” Hill stated. That moment really flipped a switch and helped drive the rest of the season.
Despite being a young team, leadership came from all directions. The seniors stepped up by leading on and off the court. They helped younger players with rides and setting the standard at practice. Leadership wasn’t just displayed by the senior class: “Mia Banks showed that you don’t have to be a senior to be captain,” Kaia Kirkeby said.

The team’s chemistry was something special. Off the court, players stayed close, talking about school, friends, and life, not just basketball. “People actually asked for help, and we were always there for each other,” Kirkeby said. Even during tough losses, the team stayed motivated. The close relationships helped them bounce back quickly. The next practice after a loss would be very focused and locked in. That sense of accountability made them stronger each week.

As the season was coming to an end, emotions were high. For seniors, it marked the end of their high school basketball careers. Looking ahead captains Addison Hill and Kaia Kirkeby had some advice for future players. “Work hard and have fun in the moment, it won’t last forever,” Hill said. Kirkeby echoed, “Basketball is a long season. There will be a day that you don’t feel like doing it, but it goes by fast. Just make sure you enjoy it while it lasts.”
This season was more than just the wins and stats. It was about growth, leadership, and creating memories that will last a lifetime.
