This December, teachers at Mayo High School are battling it out in a lively fundraising competition, selling everything from candy to homemade goods, to raise money for Dorothy Day House and the Rochester Women’s Shelter. Mayo is bringing excitement to its hallways with Professor Mayo, a bracket-style fundraising competition that pits teachers against one another to raise money for the Dorothy Day House and the Rochester Women’s Shelter. Teachers will compete by selling a variety of items, including candy, baked goods, and creative crafts, in a bid to out-earn their opponents.
The event lineup includes exciting matchups: Kuisle vs. Nixon, Larson vs. Keefe, APJ vs. Terpstra, Stegenga vs. Ekman, Olson vs. Schultz, Julian vs. Roberson, Ekert vs. Harmon, and Freiheit vs. Spekeen. Each week, new pairings bring fresh energy as winners advance and losers join forces with them to help fundraise. The competition continues all month, ending with a thrilling final round in the last week of December.
Students, parents, and staff can support their favorite teachers by purchasing items directly from them. Look for teachers walking the hallways, stationed near their classrooms, or setting up sales tables. Payments can be made in cash, with some teachers also accepting Venmo.
This engaging fundraiser not only builds excitement within the school but also serves a meaningful purpose. All proceeds go toward supporting critical resources for the Dorothy Day House and the Rochester Women’s Shelter, making it an event worth joining.
