See the Southtown Singers swing and sing this Friday

Adam Leary, Staff Writer

Singing, dancing, and a whole lot of fun; if anything about those things piqued your interest then here is great news. This Friday night at 7 p.m., Mayo High School’s very own Southtown Singers will be putting on a concert in Mayo’s Smith Auditorium. The concert is free, but donations are encouraged. However, if cost is an issue, then feel free to walk right in and enjoy the show!

Led by Mayo choir director Mrs. Humke, the Southtown Singers will be performing an array of old-school pop music, featuring songs such as In My Life by The Beatles and My Heart Will Go On by Celine Dion, which was also featured in the blockbuster film Titanic. Along with the performance by the Southtown Singers, a small pop choir from Willow Creek Middle School will be presenting a collection of songs that they have been preparing throughout the year. The night will be capped off with a series of individual and small group performances by members of the two choirs. Featured solo artists include senior Lee Bernstein, senior Caden Green, and senior Thomas Hildestad. Small group performances will feature songs such as Hey There Delilah by the Plain White T’s, Hey Jude by The Beatles, I Found a Way by Drake Bell, and many more!

When asked about what she was most looking forward to about the concert, Southtown member and senior Brianna Cookman answered “I am just looking forward to being on stage with my friends and being able to share the music that we have been practicing with my family and the rest of the audience.” A lot of hard work is put into preparing for performances like these, so this concert definitely won’t disappoint! Friday night is sure to be full of excitement, so spread the word, and come out to support the Southtown Singers!
