My Name is Katelyn Ibarra. I am a junior here at Mayo High School. I don’t participate in many activities at school, but I do plan on getting more involved. I am currently in the Mayo Honor Society, and I also help run Spartan Scene.

I believe journalism is important because it gives people a way to read about current events and the activities going on around them. Journalism also allows people to take in information through writing and photos. I believe that it is important for people to be informed and updated about what goes on around them.

Since I am new to this journalism concept there’s many things I still have yet to learn. I love taking photos of anything really, but I am hoping journalism will teach me how to really capture emotion and beauty, so it’s not only appealing to my eyes but the eyes of others as well. I also hope to gain skill in the use of Photoshop and to develop great caption writing skills. I want to be able to get the viewers and readers’ attention easily, whether it’s through a breath-taking photo or an unforgettable caption.
