Spartans on Parade
October 7, 2016
Homecoming is just around the corner, and the parade is sure to be a great one! The floats will feature all the Mayo activities, clubs, sports, and much more. Be sure to look out for each floats’ individuality and creativity as most of them will contain its own decades theme, as we are celebrating the 50th anniversary of Mayo High School’s Homecoming! If you miss seeing your friends and family who have graduated, no need to worry, as the parade will also contain a few alumni floats.
The event will kick off with flags that represent our school’s diversity as well as the countries of our foreign exchange students attending Mayo High School this year. Also be sure to cheer on our Mayo High School band that will be performing in the parade as well. They have worked hard all summer to perfect their music. Additionally, all of our fall sports are included in the parade, including football, boys and girls soccer, girls tennis, the Spirits dance team, and girls volleyball. However, it’s not just floats about sports that you’ll see; most of our Mayo clubs and activities will also be present. Finally the parade will also contain this year’s Homecoming Top Five seniors along with last year’s Homecoming royalty, Olga Acuna and Isaac Madden, all riding in golf carts and interacting with the crowd.
The parade kickoffs at 4 o’clock at the fairgrounds. From there the floats will make their way down 16th street, where they eventually end up at Mayo High school. Come out and show your support and school spirit!
