The Mayo Girls Tennis team has had a multitude of successes over the course of the 2016 season.
Both Junior Varsity and Varsity have excelled in their matches, taking down John Marshall and Century.  Dave Edwards, the Varsity tennis coach, says he has high hopes for the girls in the upcoming matches during Sections this week.  “There’s fourteen teams in our section, and we’ll probably be seated number one,” he says.  “We’ll have to win three or four matches to get to the State Tournament.”

Of course, all the team’s success is owed to the players.  Edwards says the most improved player this season is Sophomore Emma Trncic.  “She had to step up and take that one singles spot [on Varsity].  Every week she has to play somebody really good, so that’s always hard to do when you never get easy matches.”  Emma, along with other Varsity players like Natali Sorajja and Kailee Johnson, will likely be leading the team to victory through Sections this week.
