Dance, camera, action!

The tradition of Homecoming has been practiced all around the country for decades. This week specifically is very exciting for Mayo students, since the 2019 Homecoming is upon us. It gives everyone in the Mayo family something to look forward to at the start of a new school year. It is also a call to all Mayo alumni to come home and celebrate with us. One of the most memorable parts of the week is the dance. According to many students here at Mayo, this particular dance promises to be a big highlight, remembered for years to come.
This coming Saturday, October 5th, Mayo High School students will step through the doors leading to their fall 2019 Homecoming dance, with the theme of “Lights! Camera! Homecoming!.” The decorations and design of the party is inspired by movies, Hollywood, and show business. It takes place from 8pm to 11pm in the gymnasium. Many Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors alike are getting ready for this special night.
Senior Levi Ackerman says that his favorite part of a Homecoming dance is “the electric vibe you feel on the dance floor.” You can bet on Levi giving the DJ many song suggestions to make his last Homecoming a memorable night. Likewise, sophomore Austin Couch hopes that there will be more of the rising platforms to dance on this year because they “add an extra element of fun to the dance.” Austin also loves the fact that the photo-booth in the back of the gym gives students a break from just dancing and a unique chance to capture good quality pictures of the party.
Tickets are 15 dollars and are being sold during all lunch hours. On the night of the dance, you must bring a photo ID to enter. No students will be able to enter after 10 pm.

Attending Mayo High school’s Homecoming dance is a great way to celebrate the start of another school year, make life-long memories with friends and simply have fun. Join fellow Mayo students and The Undertakers this Saturday to make this year’s Homecoming the best one yet!
