My name is Ridwan Ghedi, and I am a senior at Mayo High School. I’m involved in a couple of clubs at Mayo which include Key Club, Art Club. I’m hoping to join a couple of other clubs this year as well.

I believe journalism is important because it gives students an opportunity to get out of a lecture-style classroom and get involved in the community both at school and around the city. Journalism also helps students get out of their comfort zone and seek out new opportunities on a wide spectrum of activities, including photography, writing, interviewing. All of this allows creativity to flow through.

I hope to get out of my comfort zone this school year, and this class provides me with the opportunity to do that. I’m allowed to express myself in ways that I can’t in other classes, and I’m excited to see what the new school year has to offer.
