Firing up the console or booting up the computer, gamers are propelled thirty years into the future…

In the year 2046, the Omnic Crisis threatened the existence of the human race and led to the creation and downfall of Overwatch. As robots obtained sentience, the majority of the human race was killed off. Earlier that year, Overwatch had been created by Jack  “Soldier 76” Morrison, Gabriel “Reaper” Reyes, Torbjörn Lindholm, Reinhardt Wilhelm, and Ana Amari, a task force organized to combat the omnic threats and their associates. These heros along with others led the fight against the omnics on and off the battlefield. Gamers are asked to join the remnants of the once great Overwatch in the year 2076 to fight off terrorist threats, the infamous Talon, and the lingering omnic war – In Overwatch.

Overwatch is a six-versus-six player multiplayer online battle arena or MOBA for short. This type of game has been very popular in recent years, and Overwatch definitely shines, with a wide range of 22 characters and more on the way! The developer Blizzard is very active in the community, which makes this game much better than other MOBAs. In Overwatch, there are four different classes: Defense, Offense, Support, and lastly Tank. These roles have their own positives and negatives; for example, the defense class has moderately high health but does damage over time. The offensive class has high damage but very low health, while the support class focuses on aiding teammates and provides buffs. The class system is a very common phenomena in the gaming community, possibly because of the rise of class-based shooters. Overwatch is definitely a must-have for any gamer who loves hanging out with friends, being a part of the team, and dealing with a complex strategy.

Overwatch has few problems, which is great news since it has a very active community focused on pursuing the story and making the game better for everyone. Since its debut, Overwatch  has been a solid rock for gamers, because gamers like something they can play for hours without repetition; this game succeeds far beyond other releases this year. With an unraveling comic storyline, it keeps gamers curious and interested.

Still, not everything is fantastic regarding this game. There are some balancing issues with some of the characters for example, some characters have been absolutely nerfed or weakened to the point where they are shooting paper airplanes at people, which in some cases is good because it stops characters from getting ridiculously powerful, but in other cases these characters can’t do any damage. This, of course, is common in class-based shooters. As time progresses characters will get re-balanced.

Overwatch is a great game with a rapidly growing community and a vast competitive scene. I highly recommend it for any and all players, including ones who aren’t fond of multiplayer situations. I rate this game a 10 out 10. So grab a bunch of friends and save the world!
